Is a specially designed mouth guard for patients who grind their teeth, have past records of TMJ pain and dysfunction or have undergone a full mouth reconstruction. An occlusal splint is customized using complete study models on a device called an articulator that imitates the movement of the jaws. The occlusal splint is developed from a processed acrylic resin and is intended to guide the jaw as it moves from front to back and sideways. This accurate custom orthotic device does not only protect the teeth from damaging habits, but it also provides support to the TMJ and the muscles meant for chewing.
